The Report
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) commissioned designing a report providing an assessment of the chemical and wasted issues, outlining the concerns relating to human health and environment. The report, presented at the UN would need to retain visual clarity and help the target audience familiarise themselves with this complex and important issue.
Photography
I’ve photographed several locations (chemical labs, archive and many others) to illustrate the issue at hand, whilst retaining a consistent look-and-feel - presented below.
We’ve also used stick photography the report, since not all the locations were available.
Layout
The layout contained clearly marked sections and easy to navigate typography, optimised for increased readability and pleasant aesthetic experience. The report required maintaining a healthy balance between the content and the imagery.
Special graphs and tables
A great part of the design challenge was creating figures, illustrations and tables, meant to explain interlinkages between complex organisational structures, industry / environment interdependencies and more. Below a few examples.
Annexes
The annexes included many tables with varying complexity level. All needed to be properly optimised for legibility clarity and visual appeal.
